Microsoft announced the release of the next versions of its Office products on 16th September 2021. Note: these are the perpetual/traditional on-premise products and not the Microsoft 365 apps which are licensed separately and receive their own updates.
The new releases offers performance improvements and expanded accessibility. Interestingly the article mentions this will not be the last perpetual release. However Microsoft continues its drive to the Cloud as there are still a number of apps mentioned in the article that are only available within Microsoft 365.
The Office Products include the following which are supported on Windows 10 and 11:
- Office LTSC Professional Plus 2021
- Office LTSC Standard 2021
- Project Professional 2021
- Project Standard 2021
- Visio LTSC Professional 2021
- Visio LTSC Standard 2021
Microsoft will provide 5 years Mainstream Support on these products but there will not be any Extended Support.
If your perpetual, on-premise licenses have active Software Assurance (SA) cover as at 16th September 2021 then you are entitled to upgrade to these new releases.
