Discover the changes and potential issues for customers currently licensed for Microsoft 365 and Office 365 following the 1st April 2024 announcement about Teams being a separate license. Read our article to learn more about how this change can affect your organisation.
At The SAM Club, we previously published an article detailing the changes, which you can find here
The key points are:
- Customers who are currently subscribed to any of the suites involved will have new options. They can continue to use, renew, upgrade, and add seats to their current plans as usual. Or, if they wish to switch to the new lineup, they can do so on their contract anniversary or renewal.
- Net new subscribers to Office/Microsoft 365 Enterprise suites outside the EEA and Switzerland who wish to provide their end users with Teams will need to purchase two SKUs: one Microsoft 365 (no Teams) or Office 365 (no Teams) suite and Microsoft Teams Enterprise.
However, the announced changes do not seem to be entirely accurate for existing customers unless you are renewing your licenses within the same agreement, such as an Enterprise Agreement or CSP with your current reseller. Several resellers we have spoken to at The SAM Club have indicated that if you switch from an Enterprise Agreement to a CSP, or from your current CSP provider to another, the reseller can only quote for the licenses with Teams as a seperate SKU.
At The SAM Club, we have raised this issue but have yet to receive a response. If you would like to stay updated on our progress or would like to know more about our service, please contact us at [email protected]
