Since our last article on Copilot, more information is filtering down.
The general release of Microsoft 365 Copilot will be on the 1st November 2023. Don’t get too excited, Microsoft has stated Microsoft 365 Copilot will only be available via an existing Enterprise Agreement with a 300 minimum seat purchase! It appears that Microsoft is targeting large enterprise organisations initially. We would expect and hope the minimum seats that can be purchased will gradually reduce during 2024 as well as being able to purchase outside of an Enterprise Agreement.
Integrations with third party applications such as Document Management systems aren’t available yet. These are being developed but we haven’t heard any concrete dates on when these will be available.
What we do keep hearing is ‘Security, Security!’. With Copilot having access to your data and systems, security needs to be at the forefront when considering rolling it out. You wouldn’t want anyone within your organisation to be able to access personal salary information, for example. Therefore, it appears the need to consider the M365 E5 security features has become more of a necessity with Copilot.
The latest version of Windows 11 will be required (Windows 10 is feature-locked which means nothing new is coming to this operating system). So, you will also need to plan your upgrade to Windows 11 if you haven’t already done so. With further updates/fixes to Windows 11 in the pipeline, is it time to ensure Auto-Pilot is switched on to ensure these updates are received to the end user devices?
If Microsoft 365 Copilot is being considered, now is the time to get ready for take-off and ensure the ground work is completed before anyone can start unpacking suitcases to find that important information!
