The SAM Club has completed the recovery of £31,468.00 for one of its clients following a review of their Microsoft estate as part of a new Enterprise Agreement discussion.
The client had recently completed their transition to Office 365 and refreshed their infrastructure which resulted in a move to a hosted solution. This freed up Office 2019 Standard, Windows Server Standard 2022 and Datacentre 2022 licenses which were surplus to requirements.
The general rule of thumb is any Microsoft perpetual license that is at the current release minus 1 will potentially have a resale value. There are a few checks that we complete for the legalities such as ensuring the software has been first ‘put into use’ within Europe (‘original Country of Use‘).
Please see previous articles from The SAM Club regarding the recovery of money from unused Microsoft licenses and the legalities: Saving money on Microsoft License Costs. and a short video here: Saving on Microsoft license costs – 2nd Hand License Market.
